Partners Albania for Change and Development is an independent Albanian NGO established in 2001, working to support civil society and facilitate inter-sector cooperation in order to strengthen democratic institutions and advance economic development. It is a member of the Code of Standards for Civil Society Organisations and serves as Secretariat of the Code through the National Resource Centre for Civil Society in Albania. Partners Albania is also part of the Partners Network, a partnership of 19 independent local organisations in Europe, the Americas, Africa, and the Middle East working for peaceful and democratic change. Its programme areas include philanthropic activity and supporting infrastructure, enabling environment and sustainable development of CSOs, entrepreneurship and social innovation, and participatory, transparent, and accountable governance.
Within this work, Partners Albania has played a leading role in introducing and advancing the community foundation model in Albania. Through its philanthropy and support infrastructure programme, it has promoted the development of community foundations, raised awareness of community philanthropy, and provided capacity-building support to organisations and informal groups interested in developing this model locally. These efforts contributed to the emergence of the first community foundation in Albania in 2025, marking an important step in the development of the field at national level.
