Community Foundations of Canada
1992

Community Foundations of Canada (CFC) is the national network of over 200 community foundations working to build stronger, more inclusive communities across Canada. Based in Ottawa, CFC provides leadership, coordination, and resources to support locally driven philanthropy. Its work is guided by the belief in a future where everyone belongs, and it helps foundations respond to local challenges through strategic grantmaking, community engagement, and endowment building.
CFC leads national initiatives such as Vital Signs, a data-driven program that helps communities understand and act on pressing issues, and it convenes learning spaces, peer networks, and national gatherings like the biennial Illuminate conference. It also manages thematic funds focused on youth, Indigenous resilience, gender equality, and climate action. Through this work, CFC strengthens the impact of community foundations and positions them as key actors in advancing equity and sustainable development across Canada.
