Building Bridges for Local Good

The guide provides a comprehensive overview of the community foundation movement across Europe. It showcases their diversity, shared values, and collective impact in fostering civic engagement, solidarity, and local development. With around 670 community foundations active in 27 countries, the movement reflects citizens’ growing commitment to addressing local needs through collaboration, philanthropy, and participation. The publication highlights examples from Western, Central, and Eastern Europe—illustrating how local action can strengthen democracy, social trust, and community resilience. It also recognises the role of support organisations and networks like ECFI in connecting foundations across borders and promoting shared learning.
