Learning Opportunities

ECFI creates vibrant spaces for community foundation practitioners and their supporters across Europe to connect, exchange, and dive deeper into what matters most. Together, we spark learning opportunities that strengthen skills, share expertise, and energise the field.

Peer Learning

ECFI offers a wide range of learning opportunities designed to bring together community foundation practitioners and those involved in their support from across Europe to share experiences and explore key topics in greater depth.

Our peer learning offers are shaped by the interests and needs of both community foundations and support organisations, placing practitioners’ and experts’ knowledge and skills at the centre.

Through highly interactive and participatory formats, we aim to strengthen, connect, and inform the community foundation field across Europe.

Learning Opportunities

Study Visits

Study visits are our flagship initiative allowing for deep exploration of the community foundation field in a specific country and for mutual learning. As part of a European delegation of community foundation practitioners, participants learn first-hand and in-person from the hosts and from the diverse experiences of community foundations across Europe and use these insights to inform the community foundation development in their home country.

Peer to Peer Exchanges

Have you always wanted to visit another community foundation from a different country to share ideas and knowledge, explore common challenges, and learn from one another? That is exactly what our Peer-to-Peer Exchanges are designed for.

Thematic Meetings

Thematic Meetings are topic-focused exchange and learning opportunities that bring together community foundation practitioners and experts with specialist experience and knowledge from within and outside the community foundation field for deep exploration of specific issues and practices.

Thematic Peer Groups

Thematic peer groups are open to anyone in the community foundation field with an interest in climate or youth engagement. They provide a welcoming space, online and in person, to connect, exchange experiences, and learn alongside a supportive network of like-minded peers. Reach out to us if you are interested to join one of the thematic peer groups.

Connecting Support Organisations

A continuous thread throughout ECFI’s work, raising awareness of the relevance of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among community foundations—embedded in peer learning, research, communications and public events.
