Youth Participation and Leadership
Since 2024, ECFI has focused part of its work on exploring why and how European community foundations can foster youth leadership, empower young people, and involve them in decision-making to build fairer, more equitable, and thriving communities.
We organise every year the ECFI Youth Fest, a two-day event dedicated to community foundation practitioners of all ages. It provides a space to exchange experiences, discuss strategies, and learn from one another how to develop young people’s skills, competences, and confidence, so they can participate meaningfully in decision-making processes and contribute to intergenerational dialogue.
We host a monthly Community Coffee every third Thursday of the month, specifically for people under 35 working in the community foundation field.
We also bring together community foundations and support organisations in dedicated thematic online meetings to share and discuss specific challenges and experiences, for example succession planning.
We apply a youth and intergenerational lens to all our activities, encouraging practitioners who participate in programmes such as the Study Visit, the CF2CF Exchange to explore this perspective in depth and share their approaches to it
