Charting a Greener Path: Rheda-Wiedenbrück Community Foundation’s Climate Commitment

Charting a Greener Path explores how the Rheda-Wiedenbrück Community Foundation integrates climate action into its core strategy. Triggered by local demand, new funding opportunities, and peer learning through ECFI, the foundation moved from reflection to action by adapting its statute, engaging the community, and defining priorities such as climate adaptation, species protection, and education. Positioned as a flexible local actor, it complements public funding by supporting grassroots initiatives, convening stakeholders, and enabling faster, community-driven responses to climate challenges.

The regeneration of our communities through community foundations and the SDGs

This publication positions community foundations as key actors in regenerating communities by aligning local action with the SDGs. Using the Raimat Lleida Community Foundation as an example, it shows how regeneration can be operationalised through interconnected focus areas such as social action, culture, innovation, and environmental sustainability. By mobilising local actors, fostering leadership, and building cross-sector partnerships, community foundations create collaborative systems that strengthen resilience, support local economies, and enable long-term, place-based transformation.
