Making the Case and Being a Voice for Community Foundations
This brief sums up the insights from the online discussion, that ECFI hosted, about the distinctive role of CFSOs and CFs in advocacy. The conversation has been framed around three interconnected dimensions of advocacy: visibility; operating environment and addressing issues/topics.
From SDG Talk to Action
This publication explores how community foundations across Europe are integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into every aspect of their work through a whole-of-organisation approach. It documents ECFI’s collaboration with national support organisations to deliver SDG workshops, examines their impact on community foundations, identifies common challenges and good practices, and presents case studies from across Europe demonstrating how the SDGs can strengthen community leadership, strategy, communications, investment, and organisational development.
Community Foundations Embracing the SDGs
This publication presents four examples of how community foundations are using the Sustainable Development Goals to guide local action and strengthen their role as community leaders. Featuring initiatives from Scotland, Italy, Russia and Germany, it illustrates different approaches to impact investing, sustainable local development, organisational strategy and public engagement. Together, the case studies demonstrate how the SDGs can provide a practical framework for philanthropy, cross-sector collaboration and long-term community development.
Be Prepared, Be Brave, Begin
Inspired by the Community Foundations of Canada’s All In 2021 conference, this reflection considers how the discussions resonate with the European community foundation movement. It explores questions of power, equity, community leadership and systems change, while highlighting the importance of remaining closely connected to local communities. The article also reflects on the role of community foundation support organisations in fostering learning, challenging established practice and helping the field respond to emerging social challenges.
